ROD n REEL PIER
16"X12" OIL ON BOARD
$1,400
Rod n Reel Pier, 12”x16” oil on board, brings back the view of this historic pier from the end of Jacaranda Road on the north shore of Anna Maria Island.
For over 75 years, the Rod & Reel Pier had a true "Old Florida" feeling, with its weathered boards and hand painted sign. It has been one of the most cherished spots on Anna Maria Island. Originally built in 1947 by Bill Brier, the 678-foot-long pier quickly became a beloved fishing destination. In addition, the pier’s two-story restaurant offered casual dining with unobstructed sunsets to the west over the Gulf of America and to the east Tampa Bay with the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in the distance.
However, it is no more, in September and October of 2024, the pier was destroyed by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. The pier and restaurant now lie in ruins, leaving many to reflect on the memories made there.
